With natural ingredients, we can create an easy home remedy for some of the most common health and beauty problems. With potatoes, for example, we can obtain many essential micronutrients like Vitamin A, C, B, iron, phosphorous, potassium, fiber, B vitamins, manganese, and Vitamin C which are all beneficial to our overall health. Aside from adding this famous ingredient to our meals, we can also use it in our beauty regimen.
Exfoliating Toner
Mix grated raw potato 2 Tbsp of lemon juice. Apply the mixture on the face, avoiding eyes, and let sit for 30 minutes. Doing this will gradually help reduce swelling, alleviate hyperpigmentation, and exfoliate dry skin cells.
Helps Reduce Dark Circle
Since the skin under our eyes is thin, it tends to wrinkle fast, potato juice comes to the rescue. It has skin tightening properties and can help reduce premature aging and wrinkles.
Simply peel and slice a potato in wedges and place them in a cool washcloth. Let them sit over the eyes for minutes and then rinse with cool water.
Moisturizes The Skin
Potato helps fight fine lines and provides additional vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for our skin. Its potassium content hydrates and moisturizes the skin.
Grate 1 potato and mix with 2 Tbsp olive oil and 1 Tbsp honey (these two ingredients have hydrating elements that can help replenish the skin). Apply the mixture on the skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
Sunburn Salve
Potatoes are a wonderful pain reliever. With its starch-based compounds, its slice can help ease pain caused by sunburn. For this, we need to chop potatoes into slices and place it on the affected area. Another way of using it is by cutting them into small chunks and place them in a blender or food processor. Blend or process until the potatoes are in liquid form. Add water if they look dry. Pat the burned areas with the ground potatoes and wait until it dries out, then take a cool shower.
Helps Remove Acne
Potatoes contain catecholase enzymes which reduce dark spots, blemishes, and acne.
Remember that when it comes to removing acne, the effects of potato is not instant. We need to follow steps and repeat it every day to get results.
Rub a slice of raw potato over acne and leave overnight. Wash the face as usual in the morning.
Brightens The Skin
To achieve brighter and glowing skin, we need to grate potato and cucumber and mix it with ripe papaya pulp and yogurt. Apply the mixture on the face and leaves for on for 20-30 minutes.
Cucumber has nourishing vitamins and minerals that have the ability to boost the health of our skin in a variety of ways while papaya can act as a mild exfoliator that gently removes dead skin cells from our face and makes our skin radiant and younger-looking.
