Hibiscus For A Beautiful Hair

Hibiscus plant is more than just making our garden look lovely. Research has shown its numerous benefits when it comes to improving one’s health. The use of its various parts has been linked to lowered levels of blood pressure, fighting bacteria, boosting liver health, aiding weight loss, and many more. Aside from this, the plant with brightly colored blossoms can also do amazing things for our hair. Check this out.

Against Hair Loss

Hibiscus plant contains vitamin C, minerals, and polyphenols that are useful in protecting the body against chronic inflammation. Its flowers can help hair loss problems.

For this, we need to take some hibiscus flowers, dry them up, and then ground them into a fine powder. This powder must be applied on the hair when taking a bath.

Prevent Premature Graying of Hair

Consumption of hibiscus tea can help prevent premature graying of the hair. The tea can help stimulate the production of the blood, thereby making sure that essential nutrients reach through the hair follicles.

The tea is made from drying the flowers of hibiscus. Bring ½ cup of dried flowers and 8 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Once the water starts boiling, switch off the flame, and cover the vessel. At this point, other herbs such as basil, lemongrass, and lemon zest can also be added. Let the tea steep for 15-20 minutes. Mix in ¼ cup honey and 3 tablespoons of fresh lime juice till completely combined. Strain the tea and serve it.

Hibiscus Shampoo

Hibiscus is excellent for scalp health and hair washing. The leaves of this flower produce a slight lather, which cleanses the hair without stripping away its natural oils.

In a cup of water, boil the 5 hibiscus flowers and 15 leaves for 5 minutes and set it aside to cool. Add 1 tablespoon of gram flour once the mixture has cooled. Instead of using regular shampoo, use this mixture in washing the hair. Do this thrice a week.

Fight Dry Hair

Indian women used hibiscus flowers to cope with dry hair. The flower contains calcium and vitamin C that make the hair thicker and healthier.

The hibiscus flowers are ground into a thin paste with a little water and is then applied on the hair. Leave for at least 30 minutes before washing. Apply this hair mask regularly before using a shampoo.
